The focus in this chapter is on the conceptualization of the person from Sri Aurobindo's perspective. The author demonstrates clear links with the larger Indian perspective which the author has been able to personally relate to, and differentiates Sri Aurobindo's perspective from some major schools of mainstream psychology, like Psychoanalysis, Behaviourism, Humanistic psychology and Transpersonal psychology (which comes closest to the Indian perspective).
